The following obituary appeared 31 March 1915 in the Portage County Gazette, Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI:

     MEETS WITH TRAGIC DEATH
Well Known Local Character Dies From Exposure Last Sunday - Funeral Held Yesterday Morning.

Hemorrhages resulting from exposure, caused the death of Jack Falkiewicz, 38 years of age and living at 533 Smith Street, in a vacant building in the rear of the residence of Frank Stroik, 721 Portage Street, last Sunday morning. The deceased had visited the business section during the evening and left a barber shop for the home of his brother, Joseph, with whom he had resided for the past twenty-one years, at about midnight. He was seen on Normal Avenue at about 12:30 o'clock. Contrary to his usual custom, he turned north on Union Street to Portage and thence east on Portage to Mr. Stroik's residence, in the rear of which he was found. It is possible that having lost his way, he wandered into the pond behind the building in which he was found. Though he was alive when first discovered, he had suffered several hemorrhages and died before medical aid arrived. Coroner Boston did not deem an inquest necessary and issued a statement that death had been due to the hemorrhages. The deceased had been a resident of Stevens Point all his life. He is survived by his father Mike Falkiewicz, formerly of this city but now residing at Shantytown, Marathon County, and his brothers, Peter (Duluth), and Joseph, Frank, Julius and Leo of this city. The funeral was held from St. Peter's Church at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning, interment following in St. Peter's cemetery.

The following obituary appeared 3 April 1915 in the Stevens Point Weekly Journal, Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI:

     DIED FROM EXPOSURE
Jake Falkiewicz, Aged Thirty-eight, Meets Horrible Death

So weakened from exposure to the cold and resulting hemorrhages that he died a short time afterward, Jake Falkiewicz, a local man, aged thirty-eight years, was found in an out-building in the yard of Frank Strike, 721 Portage Street, at about 9:30 o'clock Sunday morning. Falkiewicz had spent the night in the up-town section. He had visited a barber shop around the midnight hour and at about 12:30 o'clock, according to persons who saw him, started for the residence of his brother, Joseph, 533 Smith Street, where he resided. The fact that he had been in poor health for a year or more leads to the belief that he was seized with a sick spell and wandered around in a confused manner until he made his way into the building in which he was found many hours afterward. It is also believed that he had floundered about in the water and ice of the creek that runs past the rear of the Strike yard before he entered the building. Falkiewicz was found by Frank Strike. He had been bleeding profusely from the mouth and nose and died before medical assistance could be secured. Coroner Boston, District Attorney Owen and Chief of Police Hafsoos made an investigation. As there were no suspicious circumstances in connection with the death no inquest was necessary. The deceased is survived by his father, Mike Falkiewicz, of Shantytown, Marathon county, and five brothers, Peter, of Duluth, and Joseph, Frank, Julius and Leo, of this city. He had always made his home in Stevens Point. He was partially blind for a long time and this, in addition to other physical weaknesses, made him unfit for regular work for over a year.
